Hosanna Church Partners with BridgeBuilder Program to Launch Summer of Service and Discipleship
From June 22 to June 27, Hosanna Church from Lakeville, Minnesota, partnered with Sunshine Gospel Ministries' BridgeBuilder program to begin the summer season of on-campus service learning and discipleship in Chicago.
Despite a challenging heatwave in the city, the group of students and leaders from Hosanna showed up with compassion and determination. One of their key projects involved helping local residents access air conditioning systems, providing much-needed relief during the extreme temperatures.
The team also volunteered in community gardens throughout the Woodlawn neighborhood. Their work contributed to the ongoing efforts to create green, welcoming spaces. One student shared, "I really enjoyed the gardening and having the chance to contribute to the beautification of the community."
Throughout the week, the group engaged in powerful conversations about justice and systemic oppression. Many left feeling deeply moved and more aware of the challenges faced by urban communities. They expressed a strong desire to be part of ongoing change.
Sunshine Gospel Ministries' intern, Shinaya Jackson, said, "I feel honored to have been a part of the program and provide our ground with a life transforming experience."
This visit marked a meaningful start to the summer season, grounded in service, growth, and lasting impact for both the Hosanna team and the Woodlawn community.
