Sunshine Gospel Ministries Hosts Successful Expungement Seminar with Community Leaders and Partners
Last week, SGM hosted an Expungement Seminar through its FCI program, offering legal assistance to those seeking to clear their criminal records. Originally, 22 participants were registered for the event, but an additional 18 unregistered individuals showed up, bringing the total to 40 people in need of help.
This strong turnout highlights the critical demand for expungement services in disadvantaged communities. Expungement allows individuals to clear criminal records, improving their chances for employment, housing, and education. For many in marginalized communities, such services can be a game-changer, offering a path to economic stability and social reintegration.
The event was made possible by the collaboration of local organizations including Raise the Floor Alliance, Workers Center for Racial Justice, Sunshine Enterprises, and Kennedy King College. Their support helped make this seminar a success, ensuring that more people in need had access to crucial legal resources.
The seminar underscored the ongoing need for such support and reaffirmed the importance of working together to provide individuals with the resources they need for a fresh start.
